Terms & Conditions 

Registration

  • To book a course please complete the online registration form. Your booking will be acknowleged within a few hours.
  • To confirm your booking a deposit of 80 Euro (for courses up to 200 Euro) or 150 Euro (for course/accommodation over 200 Euro) is payable.
  • The deposit and fees can be paid by credit card or bank transfer.
  • Credit card payments are subject to a 3% supplement charged by our bank.
  • Fees sent by bank transfer should be sent all charges paid.
  • The registration fee for 2009 is Euro 20 per person.
  • The registration fee for 2010 is Euro 25 per person.

Course fees

  • The course fees include: Assessment and progress tests, registration, tuition, some teaching materials, one course book for General and Business group courses over 1 week, a certificate of study on successful completion, some freetime activities.
  • The course fees do not include: Insurance, bank charges, the costs for excursions and certain activities, course books for 1 week courses and FCE, CAE & TAP courses, writing materials or paper.
  • Course prices do not include the cost of accommodation or airport transfer.

Lessons

  • All lessons are 45 minutes
  • Lessons are from Monday to Friday
  • Students can start on any Monday. Students can start on Tuesday, however, the Monday will not be made up or refunded.
  • Students will receive an assessment test.

"English only"

  • In order to provide students with a complete English immersion, GV Malta follows a strict English Only Policy, where students are encouraged to speak English only on campus.

Leisure Activities

  • We offer a variety of excursions and trips that one may choose from all year round. GV Malta reserves the right to make changes to the activities programme due to weather conditions, attraction closures or any other reasons beyond our control.

Placement Test

  • Upon booking and prior to arrival students are to answer a Placement Test to verify their English level. This enables students not to miss the first lessons on the first day.

Orientation Day

  • On the first Monday of the course, new students are welcomed and placed in an appropriate class according to his/her level. If a student does not reach the required minimum level for a specific course, s/he may be asked to change to Private Lessons or another course available.

Airport Transfers

  • All flight details as requested in our Registration Form MUST reach us at least 4 days prior to arrival. In the event of delays or sudden flight changes students MUST inform the airport transfer company in sufficient time. No refund will be given in the event of subsequent missed transfers.

Unaccompanied Minors

  • Students travelling as unaccompanied minors require a GV representative to provide an additional service upon arrival and departure. The charge for this service is €20 each way. Please advise at the time of booking if the student is travelling as an unaccompanied minor.

Curfew Times for Teens

  • Ages 16 – 17: Sunday – Thursday 00:00, Friday – Saturday: 01:00
  • Under 16: Sunday – Thursday 22:00, Friday – Saturday: 23:00
  • Should students wish to stay out later, the school requires written authorisation from their parents/guardians along with contact details of the parent/guardian for verification.

Kids/Young Teens

  • Whilst a GV Malta staff member is accessible 24 hours a day, the kids and teen programmes do not include 24-hour supervision. Kids must be accompanied by a parent/guardian at all times even during break times.
  • Students under the age of 13 are only accepted by the school/host families if accompanied to Malta by a parent/guardian. By enrolling your child at Global Village English Centre you are providing us to act on your behalf in the case of an emergency.

Pocket Money

  • Parents/guardians should ensure their children have sufficient money for the duration of their stay. In case of emergency the school will provide pocket money upon receipt of said money in the GV account. This will incur a charge of €20 per transaction, deducted from the sum deposited into GV’s account.

Student Liability

  • Students are liable for any damage caused to school premises or accommodation. Before departure students must pay the full cost of any damage they caused to property. Global Village English Centre will not be held liable for loss, damage or injury to persons or property.

Dismissal

  • GV Malta reserves the right to dismiss students for unacceptable behaviour or lack of attendance. No refund will be given. Repatriation is at students’ own expense.

Visas

  • Students needing an entry visa for Malta must apply for a visa in their own country prior to arrival in Malta. Documents from the school will be issued after receipt of a €120 non-refundable deposit, which includes the Registration fee. GV Malta cannot be held responsible for decisions taken by Maltese/foreign Authorities regarding entry visas or visa extensions.

Insurance

  • All students must have adequate travel, accident and medical insurance before they arrive in Malta. Those who do not have this insurance will not be allowed to participate in any of our programmes or leisure activities. We want to make sure that all students will be covered for any eventuality.

Enrolment and Accommodation changes

  • Any changes to a student’s enrolment after the course has begun will incur an administrative fee of €20 per change.
  • While we will do our best to change the course/accommodation when requested, this may however not always be possible.
  • It is not possible to change from group to private/semi-private lessons after a course has started.
  • If a student wishes to change less than 2 weeks of his/her booked accommodation, s/he will be subject to an extra cost of 4 days of the original accommodation booked.
  • If a student wishes to change 2 weeks or more of his/her booked accommodation, s/he will be subject to an extra cost of 1 week of the original accommodation booked.

Cancellations

  • Please inform us as soon as possible if you need to cancel. Cancellations must be in writing.
  • In the event that a cancellation is made after our confirmation, the following cancellation charges will apply:
    • 30 days or more before arrival: 15% of total fees.
    • 29 – 15 days before arrival: 25% of total fees.
    • 14 – 7 days before arrival: 50% of total fees.
    • 6 – 1 days before arrival: 75% of total fees.
    • On the day of or after arrival or ‘no show’: 100% of total fees.
    • The Registration Fee is non-refundable and not calculated in the total fees.

Complaints procedure

  • If, at any time throughout the course, students are not happy with any area of their stay, they are to inform the school in writing before their departure. No complaint can be accepted by Global Village English Centre after the end of the relevant course if it has not been brought to the school’s attention as explained above.

Reduction of Hours

  • A minimum of three students required to offer regular General English, Teen Tuition, Teen Explorer and Kids Club courses. If there are two or less students per class, 10 lessons will be reduced to 5; 20 to 15; 30 to 20. There will be no change in fees.
  • A minimum of two students required to offer regular Business English or Exam courses. If there is only one student per class, 10 lessons will be reduced to 5; 20 to 15: 30 to 20. There will be no change in fees.
  • On weekdays when there are Public Holidays, the timetable for General English, Teen Tuition, Teen
    Explorer, Kids Club and Exam courses will be extended by 30 minutes per day. The Intensive session will be extended by an extra 15 minutes per day. There is no refund for lessons missed due to public holidays. Business English, Private and Semi-Private lessons missed will be made up.

Accommodation

  • The Maltese system used for awarding stars for hotel and apartments may not be comparable with your country.
  • If you book Solair Apartments, you must book airport transfer. The apartments do not have a 24-hour reception and keys to the apartment will be given to you by the driver.

Course Certificates

  • All students are given a certificate at the end of the course.

Liability

  • All disputes are to be settled by Maltese law.
  • Errors and omissions excluded.
